Theocrat Specializations in Age of Wonders 3

In Age of Wonders 3, each class has its unique strengths and weaknesses, and the Theocrat is no exception. While opinions may vary among players, I'll share my thoughts on this class's specializations, comparing them to other classes.

Personally, I enjoy playing with Warlord, but I think the Dreadnoughts are a close second in terms of overall effectiveness. Every single passive ability of the Dreadnought is fantastic, including the city enchantment that increases production and decreases gold costs. No other class can match their efficiency in production, making them a formidable force on the battlefield.

The units produced by Dreadnoughts are also excellent at every tier. Musketeers tear apart tier 1 and 2 units, Flame Tanks wreck any army that doesn't resist fire, and the Juggernaught is widely regarded as the strongest tier 4 unit. In my opinion, the ranking of classes from most overpowered (OP) to least OP would be:

Dreadnought > Theocrat = Warlord > Rogue > Sorcerer > Arch-Druid

Rogues, for instance, lack a tier 4 unit but make up for it with their Shadow Stalker and Succubus abilities. I think they could benefit from something like a ranged wyrm to give them an edge.

Shamans are likely the least useful tier 3 units, while Machines can be repaired is just crazy powerful. Arch-Druids, on the other hand, seem underpowered in my opinion, with their Fire Tank being overly effective due to its ability to level up quickly. However, I do enjoy playing with this class and any race.

As for the Theocrat, Convert and Heal are great unit skills, but it does seem mana-heavy and many high-level units are summoned. The Phantom Warrior is a nice touch, though. Sorcerers have some powerful spells, but I haven't played extensively enough to form a strong opinion on their balance. Warlords have very good tier 3 and 4 units and a powerful spell.

While I haven't yet played through all the classes, these are my thoughts on their ranking in terms of OPness. Theocrat specializations may not be the most overpowered, but they still offer a unique set of abilities that can be effective in the right situations.
